Yale Residence

An existing ‘Farmhouse’ constructed in the late 1970’s was re-envisioned with numerous additions and alterations to enhance the humble original home initially used as a second home but gradually evolving into a primary residence for a Manhattan based doctor who would eventually retire to the property. The existing parcel and farmhouse is located in an area of Stockbridge, MA which is home to significant estates and the masterplan envisioned incrementally aligning the properties design to align with the owner’s desires and the fabric of the region.

Primary elements included and expanded wrap around porch at the entry court, the introduction of a ‘farm kitchen, dining and family room space’, greenhouse elements overlooking a ‘Secret Garden’, a contemporary ‘Master bedroom suite’, accommodations for a two-level library and an enhanced finished walk out basement opening up to the ‘Secret Garden’.  Significant exterior features including an expansive signature pergola were introduced along with numerous porch enhancements

The masterplan and house design evolved synergistically between owner, landscape architect and architect. Many of the residences design evolutions were based on the landscape master plan and surrounding views of the Berkshires.
