The transformation from 1980s style to the client’s desire of clean lines and simplicity called for a complete gut of the space. Taking advantage of additional ceiling height formed from the cavity of the existing ceiling framing helped create the open concept feel the owners were seeking.  

The new layout provided a more modern approach to entertaining and celebrating food in the open plan.  Enlarging the window and removing the portion of ceiling that followed the existing gable roofline opened up the end of the kitchen to provide additional natural light to the space. The flexibility and functionality of the space allow for large gatherings, and the accented island top provides the perfect focal point and ample space for entertaining.
