Bread of Life Food Pantry
The Bread of Life Food Pantry realized a long term mission for Messiah Lutheran Church in Rotterdam, NY to expand this ongoing but robust community service. The food pantry originally operated out of a modest basement space below a fellowship hall on the Messiah Church campus. The operation was relocated to larger, more publicly accessible space in a secondary church acquired by merging with Trinity Reformed Church. The Trinity Church facility was also being incrementally converted into a Community Center Hub with Nexus Creative leading both designs. The initiative and renovations began as an extension of the ‘Who’s My Neighbor’ program which explored a wide range of Faith Based synergistic service opportunities including creating affordable housing. Nexus Creative has been integrally involved with all master planning initiatives for the Messiah/Trinity merger and property evolutions including the design for long term affordable housing and a third generation of the Bread of Life Food Pantry to be located in the new mixed use enclave on the Trinity parcel.
Nexus Creative has enjoyed an extended partnership with New York State Council of Churches in conjunction with Pace Land Use Law Center in White Plains, NY developing and participating in numerous Faith Based initiative programs to realize next generation uses for their church parcel resources.
